Campaign Update šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡³ | The UN is failing. Become a Spokesperson to fix it

Today is the International Day for Multilateralism and Diplomacy for peace. Yeah… I know… It’s not going great.

Ā

Trump’s leaked plan to slash UN funding shows how deep the crisis goes. The entire system runs on less than the budget of New York City, and it’s shrinking. Humanitarian workers are being let go. Essential health services are shutting down. People are left behind.Ā

But the answer isn’t to defend the status quo. It’s to give people a reason to believe in a United Nations that can work. One that, despite its flaws, helped eradicate polio, supports 32 million refugees, and has driven nuclear disarmament. We need real, structural change: not just survival, but transformation.

That’s what I’m fighting for. I’m running for UN Secretary-General to challenge a system that is undemocratic, outdated, and deliberately weak, and I need your help. Read on to:

šŸŽ¤ become a spokesperson for this campaign,

šŸ”„ hear about our work to get the UN to end complicity in genocides,Ā

šŸ¤– Have a say on how to safeguard our future, jobs & dignity from and with AI,

šŸŒ attend a UN Conference on behalf of Atlas,Ā

…and obviously, let’s start a revolution!Ā

šŸŽ¤ Become a spokesperson for the UN campaignĀ

This is the heart of it. The most important part of this entire message.

We are building a network of Spokespeople. Will you be one?Ā

Those are individuals who will publicly represent the UN campaign in their country or on a key issues like climate, democracy or freedom struggles. They will help spread the word, mobilise support, implement radical policies, and push for a United Nations that works for people, not power.Ā

Apply here, it takes 15 min!

This is not a symbolic title. Let’s take control of our planet, let’s take back control of our system. Be the voice that challenges the status quo.

šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡³ Recap of my UN campaign

Quick recap: I’m running to become UN Secretary-General to challenge a broken and undemocratic system

The current process shows everything wrong with the institution. Citizens cannot run. Five countries choose the leader. No transparency. No accountability. No power once elected. And for 80 years, every Secretary-General has been a man, with an average age of 58 at appointment.

The selection process is expected to take place next year, with close to no improvements at a time when the UN needs drastic change to even stand a chance at surviving, and a revolution to actually serve the people of this world

Endorse the campaign if you haven’t yet

But more than that, become a spokesperson. This is your invitation to be part of history.

šŸ›‘ Update on ending complicity with genocide

We’re working with countries to push the UN General Assembly to adopt a Freedom Emergency Declaration, a resolution that would force the UN to act when states commit grave crimes, not just when it's politically convenient.

There are exciting developments behind the scenes, and I hope to share more soon. But you can help build momentum by emailing the UN General Assembly President to tell him to end countries’ complicity with genocide, here (I even pre-wrote the email for you to have to do close to nothing!).

šŸ›ļøWant to attend a UN conference? Here’s your chance.

At Atlas, we get approved to participate in quite a few UN conferences. I try to ensure as many people as possible can go. Two volunteers are heading to the Boon Climate meeting in June! But we have another opportunity: the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development in Sevilla, Spain, from 30 June – 3 July 2025.Ā

We can register up to ten people! I'll definitely try to head there. If anyone wants to join us and experience a UN conference, message me.Ā

Quick disclaimer: those conferences are self-funded, but we are always happy to help you apply for funding!

šŸ¤– Give me your opinion on AI policies!

In other news, last year we adopted the Survival Bill, a political programme built by and for people, outlining what the UN should actually do to protect humanity. Not just patch things up, but take on the real threats.

Right now, we’re voting on AI policies. How to stop dangerous developments. How to ensure global regulation. How to make sure AI serves people, not just tech giants.

If you’re an Atlas member, you can vote. If not, join and help shape the future!

🧐 What now?

Despite everything, I still believe in a United Nations worth fighting for. If you also do, join me. I’m lucky enough to work with incredible people changing the United Nations from the ground up, and you could be part of this revolution.

šŸ’” Meet the team. Denise & Cristian aren’t just making all of this possible, they’re constantly coming up with the boldest, most creative, and, let’s be honest, completely wild (in the best way) ideas to challenge the system.Ā

šŸ‘‰ Join them. Let me know if you’d like to volunteer! Whether it’s lobbying ambassadors or dreaming up the boldest campaigns, we need your energy and creativity.

šŸ“¢ Spread the word. I need you to help me get this campaign out there. Forward this email to 10 people, get them to sign on. Talk about it. Get others involved.

šŸ’° And if you know funders who believe in this fight, let me know. We need money, fast, to make this happen!
