This year, more than ever, has shown the world’s desperate need for a political alternative. One capable of uniting humans across borders, addressing survival threats while going beyond today’s hypocritical world order. One that can be inspired by Atlas, the global progressive party we are building.
In our day-to-day work, we’ve seen it firsthand: nationalists dividing communities, and leaders with no integrity or consistent values. Too many nations put their interests before the needs of the next generation. Too many politicians support Ukraine while ignoring Palestine—or vice versa. How can humanity trust governments and leaders behaving this way? No more! Atlas is here to build that alternative.
Read on to discover what we achieved in 2024, and what we are planning for the year ahead.
Running for the highest office in the world: our UNSG campaign
On March 31st 2024, we launched a political campaign to challenge the 2026 UN Secretary-General selection process.
Climate change, unregulated technologies, wars, nuclear weapons, dictatorships, pandemics, and poverty all represent global survival threats that are currently not being addressed. Due to its undemocratic and outdated setup, the United Nations lacks the competencies, leadership, and legitimacy needed to tackle these issues. Even its leader, the Secretary-General, is chosen through an opaque process controlled by a few countries that seek to uphold the status quo. Atlas’ co-founder, Colombe Cahen-Salvador, is leading the campaign as the candidate for survival. She intends to challenge the status quo, refuse to appease member states for approval and instead seek to represent We, The Peoples.
In the few short months since she announced her campaign, Colombe - on behalf of Atlas - has:
- Met the president of the UN General Assembly and ambassadors across the planet, got the attention of the United Nations and was repeatedly asked to stop disturbing the status quo by quite a few officials,
- Participated in the United Nations Civil Society Conference, Summit of the Future and COP29,
- While the United Nations was hosting all those high-level conferences, she hosted on-the-ground consultations in Nairobi to hear from people how the UN should better serve them, and in New York on how it should regulate AI.
- Hosted online townhalls with Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, former VP of the World Bank on how to make the UN accountable to the people, with UN Special Rapporteur Gina Romero, on how the UN could better protect freedoms, and with Habiba Sarabi, former member of the Afghan Peace Negotiation team, on what all our countries must do to support Afghan women and girls.
- Been cited in newspapers, university studies, and published work on the need for this outdated and undemocratic selection process.
Honing Our Political Vision: The Survival Bill
We have officially released our political program, called the Survival Bill, for the 2026 United Nations Secretary-General selection process. The Survival Bill, first adopted at the Atlas Summit in July 2024, addresses global survival threats such as climate change, unregulated technologies, wars, nuclear weapons, dictatorships, pandemics, and poverty—issues that the current United Nations structure is failing to tackle effectively.
2023 gave us our political ideology, the Philosophy of Unity. In 2024, thanks to the remarkable work of the Global Policy Team, we introduced our first political program: the Survival Bill. In 2025, we will continue to update and refine our policies, ensuring they remain relevant to nations and localities alike.
Turning Ambition into Reality: Our National Parties
From the halls of the United Nations to your local city council, Atlas is working to become your party of choice in upcoming elections. Aligning with this ambition, national teams began forming under the Atlas banner in Italy, India, Kenya, and beyond starting last summer. These teams are hosting regular grassroots events, drafting national political programs, and working to establish the necessary legal entities to participate in political races as early as 2026. More details are available in The Path Forward section.
Impacting Change Today: Declaring Freedom Emergencies
Beyond politics, in November, Atlas launched an initiative to save lives and drive change even before the next electoral cycle.
While entire populations face occupation, attack, or threats—or rise to defend their rights—too many remain idle and complicit. Too few systematically advocate for liberation. Think of Gaza, Ukraine, and other regions. Think of marginalized groups and victims of organized crime or corruption.
Together, we can dismantle systems of oppression and counter their enablers. To this end, we launched the Freedom Emergency Declarations campaign to pressure governments to truly stand with those fighting for survival and freedom, from Gaza to Ukraine.
This campaign calls on governments at all levels to issue declarations that enforce immediate embargoes, boycotts, targeted sanctions, and divestment actions against states and institutions implicated in grave crimes such as genocide, apartheid, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and aggression. These measures will pressure offending nations while creating "zones of freedom" where oppressive regimes find no support—whether in cities, regions, countries, or international institutions.
Making Our Dreams Come True: Our Annual Summit
In July, we held our Annual Summit to officially launch our electoral efforts. Our mission is clear: to enter national and local parliaments and tackle humanity’s survival threats as urgently as possible.
This 48-hour Global Summit brought together members from every corner of the planet. It provided us with everything we need to transform into a truly global political movement:
- A comprehensive political program for our UN campaign.
- A bold, new branding 🌍🔥
- A multi-year strategy and a clear direction.
- A robust organizational structure to enable success.
- National groups preparing to run for elections in Australia, Kenya, India, Italy, Germany, and beyond.
The summit also featured inspiring speeches and panels, including one by Kenneth Roth, former director of Human Rights Watch. You can read the recap here.
We are now equipped to achieve our mission: to combat survival threats like climate change, poverty, and dictatorship.
The Path Ahead: Popping the Bubble & Working Toward a New Power
In 2025, we will shift into full gear. Our focus will be clear: growth, growth, and growth, particularly beyond the circle of global politics enthusiasts. On top of this, we will try to answer the call of those who do want to protect freedom and human rights from mad authoritarians - like Putin - and cannot stand by the hypocrisy of big Western nations - like the complicity over massacres and war crimes in Gaza.
To achieve this, at the international level, our UN Campaign will continue to expand as we push the Freedom Emergency Declarations through the General Assembly. In addition, we are thrilled to announce the 2025 Freedom Marathon, organized in partnership with the Global Democracy Coalition. This one-day event will bring together experts, activists, and participants to explore the emergence of a new geopolitical coalition dedicated to safeguarding fundamental human rights and freedoms—regardless of ideology, skin color, religion, or other differences. In today’s polarized world, the creation of such a new Power is vital to protect individuals facing oppression worldwide, from Ukraine to Palestine, from Taiwan to Sudan. Join us on Saturday, March 15, 2025, in Milan, Italy, or online for this gathering. To participate, please

At the national level, we will formalize our chapters to become a true global political actor and enter national political debates on all continents. On Sunday, March 16, 2025, immediately after the Freedom Marathon, our teams will hold National Summits to approve policies, strategies, and constitutions. If you are interested in joining and contributing, check out this webpage.
2025 will be a year of truth. After months of theorizing and preparing, we will strive to win our first seats and put Atlas on the path to becoming a truly global political party.
As you can read, the challenges are immense, but they are necessary. Only a global political front—stretching from the White House to Japan's National Diet—can counter the rising wave of nationalism that edges us closer to global conflict. Only a genuinely global-first political vision can address the climate crisis and ensure future generations inherit a sustainable world.
As pioneers, our path forward will be difficult. But if we succeed, we will change the world forever.
Onwards, in Unity, until we prevail.
