On the Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire

The Ceasefire Deal

The ceasefire deal between Israel and Hezbollah, finalized on November 27, 2024, is a necessary step in halting the violence that has ravaged Lebanon.

Since Israel’s war on Gaza began, Israel's attacks and invasion have killed at least 3,823 people, wounded 15,859 and displaced over 1.2 million people. That’s without even mentioning all the destruction. Finally, civilians can be put first.

What about Palestine?

However, this deal should not be used to justify inaction elsewhere. Israel continues to ravage Palestine.

Today only, Israel killed at least 12 Palestinians were killed in an airstrike targeting a school sheltering forcibly displaced families in Gaza City. Reports are also coming out of bombardments of Kamal Adwan Hospital, the Bureij refugee camp, Khan Younis, and al-Qarara.

The same commitment to peace and protection of civilians in Lebanon must urgently extend to Palestine.

What should countries and the UN do?

We cannot continue to leave Palestinians behind, accepting genocide, apartheid, and occupation. Justice and lasting peace demand action.

All countries and the United Nations must work to end the genocide, now! For this, they need to:

‼️ impose a total arms embargo on Israel,

‼️ pressure Israel economically, politically and diplomatically,

‼️ implement a permanent ceasefire,

‼️ pursue justice by supporting South Africa’s case in front of the International Court of Justice & the International Criminal Court’s work,

‼️ support those displaced,

‼️ return hostages and political prisoners,

‼️ then, end the occupation and apartheid!

What can you do?

Don't stay idle. Unite. Resist. Don't be complicit. Speak Out. Rebel.
Consider supporting our efforts!

We are pushing forward Freedom Emergency Declarations. We cannot afford to wait. Action is needed now!

Freedom Emergency Declarations

We are pushing our cities, countries & the United Nations to adopt the Freedom Emergency Declarations.

These declarations will trigger targeted actions - such as arms embargo, sanctions, boycotts, and divestment - from states and institutions complicit in grave crimes such as genocide, apartheid, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and aggression.

This will cut off lifelines to oppressors, making solidarity a tool for real change across borders!

Help us drive real action by establishing Freedom Zones that cut ties with oppressive regimes. For this:

How the UN can stand with Afghan women & girls, with Dr. Habiba Sarabi!

December 09, 2024

By Colombe Cahen-Salvador “The Taliban’s goal is clear: they want to erase women entirely. No school, no work, no voice.”  These words from Dr. Habiba Sarabi were spoken during a town hall I had the honour of hosting last week, and capture the stark...
