Unity and solidarity have never been more important than in this day and age, when:

Dear Andrea,
Unity and solidarity have never been more important than in this day and age, when:
🇦🇫 G7 countries and NATO are leaving behind countless Afghans at risk. 🦠The economic consequences of the pandemic are clearer than ever, with unprecedented inequalities recorded across the planet. 🌍 The climate crisis is intensifying, with governments looking the other way and risking our future.
The choice is simple: people can complain, stay on the sidelines of history and carry on with their lives, or take action. At Atlas, we took the second route. We know that building a global progressive front will not be easy, but it might be our only chance. More than 20,000 people are committed to embarking upon this revolution - will you join us?

THE FREEDOM MARATHON IS JUST TWO WEEKS AWAY: REGISTER TODAY ✍️!
Yes, it’s happening! From September 15th to the 18th, Atlas will host a massive conference about democracy and freedom. And YOU can be part of it. Here is the overview:
📌 Opening Panel, Worldwide Meetups & Digital Workshops - September 15th-17th
To coincide with the International Day of Democracy on the 15th, the conference will open with a top-level panel including President Guaidò of Venezuela 🇻🇪, Ted Hui of Hong Kong 🇭🇰, Veronica Tsepkalo of Belarus ⚪🔴⚪, and Wai Wai Nu of Myanmar 🇲🇲.
That same day many of our teams will organize events all over the world to discuss the role their respective countries can play in protecting freedom domestically and abroad. From the US to Australia, from Argentina to Canada, we will host our first WorldWide Meetups 🌏!
Following the opening panel, for three straight days our activists, supported by top-level experts such as the Taiwan Digital Diplomacy Association, will host digital panels and workshops to discuss how the democratic world can unite and stand against authoritarian regimes ✊. After the Afghanistan failure, this topic is more relevant than ever.
📌 Democracy Celebration IN PERSON - September 18th, London, UK
For those that can travel to London, we have prepared a little treat… on Saturday, September 18th, we have reserved the historical location of The Tabernacle 🏰 in Notting Hill to celebrate democracy! The day will feature a protest art exhibition with pieces from Hong Kong to Belarus, the screening of the renowned documentary “Dear Future Children” with live commentary from the Director, speeches from democracy activists such as Vladimir Ashurkov and much more. It’s a do-not-miss event in a top location and a great chance to meet the Atlas team. Join us:
📌 Community Day for Atlas Members - September 19th, London, UK

WHAT’S NEXT FOR ATLAS? 🚀
Atlas is just a month old, but already has big dreams! Last week, our staff and team leaders completed our first strategic review that led to some interesting outcomes, including:
🗳️The decision to run for elections in a few countries where we have a substantial chance to land elected officials and/or shift the tide in favour of the progressive front
🌴 The creation of at least two very interesting new campaigns, one on climate and one to keep China accountable on its authoritarianism
📚 And finally, a strong commitment to produce a new ideology to bind together all of our work: the world needs a new vision, and we will work to build one.
These are just a few of the items we plan to tackle, and as you can see they are bold and exciting. If you think you can support in any way, please volunteer: our teams need you!.

MEET OUR TEAM: JAMAL, NETHERLANDS & SOCIAL MEDIA 📱 TEAM LEADER
👋 Jamal, can you tell us a bit about yourself? Hi, my name is Jamal Andrew and I am an active member of the Atlas Netherlands team and the Social Media team. I grew up in the Caribbean. It was there that I saw for the first time the effects of climate change, economic injustice, and discrimination in many forms. I joined Atlas because I believe there is a need for a globally coordinated approach to these and other global challenges.
💬 What would you like to tell the world? It is clear that the Netherlands is at the forefront of a large number of world-wide issues, including climate change. I firmly believe that with the knowledge and expertise of our local team, we can tackle and overcome the challenges of the climate crisis, economic injustice, and discrimination!
Thank you for following our work and being part of this revolution. We will push until the world is a better place: we hope you'll be part of this journey!
Cheers,
Andrea Venzon & Colombe Cahen-Salvador
