Dear Friends,

While part of the planet is starting to see the end of the pandemic, existential challenges keep on affecting the lives of too many people across the globe. From the military crackdown in Myanmar to the light being shed on systematic gender-based violence in the UK, we cannot rest.

And we won’t. Together, united, we cannot be defeated! Will you support our work?

DONATE TO STAND FOR DEMOCRACY!

From Myanmar to Hong Kong, from Venezuela to Russia, authoritarian leaders are cracking down on democracy and rights. No country alone has the leverage to oppose dictatorships and protect freedom. It’s time to dream bigger, it’s time for a “League of Democracies”: a coalition of major democracies working together to support freedom fighters, and ultimately safeguard freedoms and democracy.

For eight months, we have been working towards this idea, by organizing Fridays For Freedom protests in over 20 countries and by pushing politicians to take action! For eight months, protesters have shown up every week to ask world leaders to protect democracy and freedom fighters.

To continue our work of mobilizing people and lobbying for freedom, we need your financial support!

Three months from now, the biggest democratic powers on the planet will be meeting in the United Kingdom, at the G7 2021 summit. We are pushing them to create a League of Democracies there and then. This is urgent, and this is direly needed: only by standing as one can countries oppose authoritarianism.

OUR COMMITMENT TO WOMEN’S RIGHTS DOES NOT END ON MARCH 8th

On International Women’s Day, everyone’s a feminist. But what happens after? Women, their struggles, and their rights get forgotten. Not at NOW!.

Join us tonight at 5.30 pm GMT for an event about “TThe impact of COVID-19 on women’s rights”. Irène Tolleret (member of the European Parliament) and Petra Bayr (Austrian MP) will join us to talk about how to build a post-pandemic equal world!

PFIZER: WE BET YOU HEARD OUR VOICE!

As you might remember, in February we launched the campaign Vaccines Without Borders to pressure the big pharma Pfizer to allow other companies to develop their COVID-19 vaccine during the emergency. The campaign has been covered by Al Jazeera, Brut, and Blu radio

Last Thursday, exactly one year after the WHO declared COVID-19 a pandemic our members brought the message “Lives over profit, change my mind” in front of Pfizer’s offices across the world, to push for Pfizer to share its COVID-19 Vaccines fairly across borders.

Those actions took place in 13 countries, from Kenya to the U.S., showcasing international solidarity. Read more about it here

BONJOUR PARIS!

In the last few weeks, we have opened 30 local groups in 4 continents: people of all backgrounds have decided to stand up and take the future of their communities into their own hands. The blossoming of local teams, from Cuenca in Ecuador to Delhi in India, makes us extremely proud and, at the same time, eager to do even more.

Our 30th local team is in the process of being set up in Paris: if you are in the city or you know someone, feel free to refer them to the local webpage :)

In addition, next Wednesday, March 24th, our co-founder Andrea will host two new video-conferences for anyone interested in starting a NOW! community in their town or village. Reserve a spot in one of the two “Intro to community teams” calls to see if this is something for you:

  1. Slot A | 10 am GMT
  2. Slot B | 5 pm GMT

This is the agenda we will follow - trust us, you will not regret investing 30 minutes of your life in this!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST…  CURIOUS ABOUT HOW A UNIVERSAL BASIC INCOME?

Join our co-founders, Andrea & Colombe, on March 16th, at 6 pm GMT for a discussion with Karen Jooste on her efforts to create a Universal Basic Income in South Africa.

Karen is a former Member of Parliament in South Africa that focused on trying to pass a universal basic income policy in South Africa. After leaving politics, she founded RightfulShare, a pilot income grant scheme to bring her dream to the world!

Thank you for taking the time to stay up to date with our work! We hope that we can count on your support in our crowdfunding efforts :)
